About Dylan

I’m a 28 year old Internet entrepreneur living in Auckland, New Zealand. I’ve been addicted to computers since my high school days and I’ve dedicated the last six years of my life to learning as much as I can about the Internet, web sites and building online businesses.

Dylan Bland (me)

In 2002 I founded nzflatmates, a site with over 100,000 members designed to help people find the perfect flat or flatmate. In 2005 I co-founded Zillion with Simon Barton. Our goal with Zillion was to create a viable alternative to Trade Me. Zillion now has over 90,000 members and was awarded “Best New Site” at the 2006 NetGuide Web Awards. In 2008 myself and the Zillion team launched happysheep as a modern-day take on the public noticeboard that sits outside your local dairy.

Today I spend most of my time leading the web development team at Mighty Ape and I’m lucky to be working with a talented and fun group of people who are working hard to build a world-class online shopping site for New Zealanders. In 2009 Mighty Ape won “Best Online Shopping Site” and “Best New Site” at the NetGuide Web Awards.

I’m not a programmer and I don’t consider myself an overly technical person, however I’m passionate about the Internet and building cool web sites. When I’m not behind a screen I enjoy singing in Musica Sacra, reading books, thinking, watching films, driving my car and enjoying the company of my friends and family.

I’m always happy to hear from like-minded people so if you’d like to say hi please drop me an email or follow me on Twitter.
